ASKED WHY SHE WANTED TO DO GARDENS OF THE WORLD:
It’s such a lovely idea and I had the time, which is very important. I was thrilled to do it. Obviously I love gardens and flowers. It interests me. And it also gave me the opportunity to see gardens I never would have otherwise. Which is what I hope will be lovely for audiences – they‘ll be able see gardens they probably never would be able to travel to or find. And I think we really are photographing the most beautiful ones in the world.

ASKED ABOUT HER OWN GARDEN EXPERTISE:
I’m not a garden expert but I’m a garden lover and I think that’s almost enough. To have a garden. I obviously do a lot of weeding and budding and clipping and doing all the things that are easy to do. I spend a lot of time in the garden. I spend a lot of time looking up at the sky to see what the weather is going to do to my flowers. And in the summer we get very wild storms – because we live not very far from the lake – and next day my corn is down, but I prop them up. And they stand up again. That’s what’s so extraordinary about plants – their resliance. With a little help, they revive.

ASKED ABOUT CHILDREN AND FLOWERS:
It’s all about the same thing isn’t it. Children and flowers. It’s life. It’s survival. Like with flowers, it’s the same with children – with a little help, they can surive, . . they can stand up and live another day. And I think that’s what life is all about actually, it's about children and flowers!

I suppose I put the same effort into helping a plant flourish as we do at UNICEF. It’s not just a matter of the child surviving. but giving it a future . . . and allowing it to develop well, and not handicapped . . . giving it the strength. . . to have, to have a future.
